About AgIndex
AgIndex is an independent Australian farm index: today's prices, weather, jobs, used gear, agronomists and finance in one free place.
Who runs it
AgIndex is run by Huntington Investments Pty Ltd (ABN 95 632 398 479), an Australian company. We're not owned by a grain buyer, fertiliser company, machinery dealer or bank, and nobody can pay to change a price or a review.
What's on the site
- Grain and livestock prices: weekly port grain prices, world sugar, MLA cattle, lamb and mutton indicators, and the ABARES dairy farmgate milk price.
- Fertiliser prices: Australian farmgate pricing for urea, DAP and MAP against world prices in Aussie dollars.
- Weather and fuel: a forecast, rainfall and soil moisture for any town, plus diesel prices by state.
- Farm jobs and used gear: free to post, plus links to the main Australian job boards and machinery sites.
- Agronomist finder, farm finance, practical guides and a farm tech directory.
Where the prices come from
- Diesel: official state fuel price feeds, including FuelWatch WA, updated every morning.
- Port grain: the ABARES weekly commodity update, entered each Thursday.
- Sugar and world fertiliser: the World Bank commodity price data (CC BY 4.0), converted to Aussie dollars at Reserve Bank exchange rates.
- Cattle, lamb and mutton: Meat & Livestock Australia's market indicators, published with credit under MLA's terms.
- Dairy: the ABARES farmgate milk price forecast.
- Fertiliser farmgate: the last published Australian farmgate list, labelled with its month.
Every price shows its source and date. We only use sources that allow republishing, and we don't make numbers up. If a figure is out of date, we say so.
